Kiscelli Museum – Baroque romanticism

(1037 Budapest, Kiscelli st. 108.)

The building that houses Kiscelli Museum used to be a baroque monastery and church is located in Óbuda, on the hillside above Margit Hospital.

In the building complex, built in baroque style features side buildings embracing the one-storey monastery building with the sacristy and oratory. After its building, the church became a popular pilgrimage destination. When, in 1783, Emperor Joseph II ordered to close the monastery the church and the buildings were taken over by the state. In the following years it served as barracks, military hospital, veterans home and military warehouse as well.

Gallery

For events and weddings we recommend the hall of the church.
The Church Hall, rebuilt several times in the past centuries, is the largest and most special exhibition and event area of the museum. Its rustic walls still radiate the past sacral elevation.

For taking the wedding photographs, the inner garden of the building is an ideal location.
