Royal Palace – the dream wedding venue in Gödöllő

(2100 Gödöllő, Grassalkovich-kastély, hrsz:5852)

The Royal Palace of Gödöllő is the largest baroque style castle complex in Hungary, and is famous for its uniquely rich historical past as well as its architectural treasures that set the trend of the time. Its first owner was Antal Grassalkovich I. one of the most prominent noble lord in Hungary in the 17th century, and a trusted advisor to the empress Maria Theresa. The palace, built in in the centre of his estate represented everything that characterised the life of the aristocracy of the time: the ceremonial hall painted white and gold, its rooms decorated with frescoes, its bath covered in marble, its orangery, spacious hippodrome, baroque style theatre hall and the vast park around it. After WW2, years of decay followed, for about half a century. But then the efforts to reconstruct this unique site of heritage got accelerated in 1989, and as a result, the central part of the palace opened its gates in 1996 in its original splendour.
